Laser Ultraviolet
Someone had a dual laser. One that had ultraviolet and red. Is that possible? Also, can uv lasers cause eye
damage? Can red lasers cause eye damage? How can I prevent the damage?
In that there are so many types of “lasers”( light amplification by stimulating emission of radiation).
The red laser that you refere to ( a laser pen?) is a class 1 laser,(gallium arsenide) and is actually a light emitting diode(LED) and by virtue of it’s less than 3a,3b,or4class, does not pose physical harm.
IR or infrared lasers are termed “masers” were explored before lasers(1957, Bell labs) and gas, IR Masers (CO2)are actually powerfull enough to cut metal although are not visible .
I don’t understand the term “dual” laser: Each laser devise has a unique medium and or crystal to amplify it’s particular wave lenght and red is as close to the infrared spectrum as one can get but, yet, an entirely different “laser”. Lenses are often applied to diodes (LEDS) including IR diodes but the diodes would be different.
A very interesting area , both physics and law: It took 28 years to determine just who/whom had the authentic patent.
