They are dogs and firearms allowed on the Pacific Crest Trail?
Some friends and I are planning to hike two weeks of the PCT from Mexico. We are concerned about safety as close to the border, so one of us wants a package of arms for the first three days. In addition, two of us would like bring our dogs, hiking companions who are experienced and camping. I've been finding a lot of conflicting information about whether dogs are allowed PCT.
I contacted the PAAT and replied, "No dogs allowed in any state or national park, nor are the weapons … As for foreigners or illegal drug dealers, I've never heard of an incident in which nobody was harmed, harassed or anything that would justify a gun! I walk alone and have never found the need of a firearm in the road, coming from a woman 50 years! "Also from the official website of the PCT:" Is it dangerous PCT near the border terminal in southern with Mexico? No significant illegal border crossing activity near Campo, California, and during the first 30 or more miles on the PCT. You should avoid camping near the border, especially if you are traveling alone.
