Book Lights
What was the purpose and tone of the book Friday Night Lights by HG Bissinger?
Read this just now, but from what I recall the purpose seemed to be to discuss football in Texas, SA in the context of local culture – What is the role of SA soccer in this area of Texas and how people make it touches, from parents to coaches to players. Bissinger did a very nice use HS football in Texas as a trope to explore specific cultural topics in the area. The tone was a mixture of independent journalist and a writer more emotionally aware, especially when it comes to the players.
